[LINK]SDCC Friday: The Big Bang Theory Panel: Barenaked Ladies Appear LIVE

Row M is covering Comic Con this weekend in San Diego. The latest moment of fun happened just after noon on Friday, as Ballroom 20's sizeable crowd was treated to a surprise appearance by The Barenaked Ladies who appeared to open the "Big Bang Theory" panel by playing their popular theme song from the show, which they wrote and perform on the program. Lyric sheets were passed out to the audience, who were invited by panel moderator, Wil Wheaton (regular, not evil Wil Wheaton) to sing along to the longer three verse version of theme.

The panel is still underway as we post this article, but Row M's HD video of the sing-along theme will be posted to this item soon, so check back for a look at what it was like to be there in Row M, the best seat in the house!

[LINK]In The Bag: The San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives Items You Must Have

First up, is LEGO. Star Wars LEGO is one of the pure joys of human existence, and LEGO always comes through with something unique. This year, LEGO brings Clone Wars-themed “CubeDudes” to the their booth for the first time. CubeDudes are figures, constructed in a style and a scale created by LEGO artist and Pixar digitial artist, Angus MacLane. They’re a bit larger than LEGO’s minifigures and have an edge to them, both literally and figuratively.

Angus MacLane has put five Star Wars characters from the Clone Wars animated series into his Cube Dude form, one for each day of the show, including Preview Night. There’s R2-D2, C-3PO, Yoda, Captain Rex, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The run is 450 of each character, so they're bound to sell out fast.

LEGO ‘s approach to selling the limited number of their exclusive items is unique at SDCC. They forego the morning rush, when everyone is running wild on the convention floor to get something from somewhere, as most things are sold first thing in the morning. And even if one isn’t trolling for exclusive, there’s blood in the water, because that’s also when much of the swag is doled out across the floor, including items like the giant WB tote bags that people go insane over. Instead of chumming along with everyone else, LEGO posts a time later in the day at which you come back to their booth, and line up to draw a raffle ticket out of a box. If you draw a ticket that’s marked as a winner, you can then proceed to the registers and buy that day’s item. If not, you can also just get right back on line to try again. They keep it going until all the numbers are drawn. The wait is usually only a few minutes per attempt, and if you keep at it, you can succeed pretty painlessly. If you can drum up a willing friend or two to help pull tickets for you, you’re way better off and will likely hit. Also, since winners have until a few hours later to make their purchases, not everyone always completes the deal, LEGO posts another time at which you can simply line up in order to purchase any remaining items that winners did not end up deciding to buy. That can work out quite well, too.

Some might find it frustrating that they cannot control whether or not they get the LEGO’s items by simply putting more effort into it to line up earlier or to dash straight to the booth the fastest . But there’s something to be said for the fairness of the luck of the draw, and how it eliminates the stampede.

Angus MacLane will be available for signings at the LEGO booth on Friday from 2-3pm and Saturday from 12-1pm.
