May 24, 2004 HP:PoA NYC World Premiere Coverage Begins!
Row M was on the red carpet with the stars and filmmakers at Sunday's world premiere of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Hordes of screaming fans cheered as Warner Brothers put on a parade of all the favorite faces from the wizarding world. The lucky 6,000-person audience loaded in for their look at the film, and then it was off to the exclusive afterparty for the Potter crew. Now that we've seen the film, our full Row M review will be up shortly. But don't worry, it's a big thumbs up.
The premiere began with a rousing introduction of the cast and filmmakers, who were nearly blown off the Radio City Music Hall stage by the outpouring of cheers and excitment. But by the time the film's third act was unfolding, director Alfonso Cauron, who was discreetly pacing the aisles in the dark, trying to read the audience, had nothing left to worry about. His rendition of the Potter universe had everyone captivated.
Afterwards, as most of the huge audience made its way home, the luckiest Muggles boarded a team of red double-decker busses (sorry, no triple-decker Knight Bus for you, Muggles) for their trip to the post-premiere cast dinner, where everyone had the chance to enjoy the success of the premiere and cut loose after a huge event, which was pulled off perfectly.
Our coverage begins with a first look at pictures from the day. Check back often as we continue to upload and update! Prisoner of Azkaban Premiere Photos
