About Row M

The name of our site, "Row M", refers to the numbering of seats in many movie theaters, especially more old-fashioned, live theater-style ones. Typically, in most houses that use a traditional numbering system (using letters for the rows and number for the seats in the rows), row "M" is the optimal distance from the screen from which to enjoy the movie; they're "the best seats in the house". Our founders met on a lineup, and working on lineups and Line Parties, and spent so much time repeat viewing movies from row "M", that when it came time to name the site, "Row M" was the natural choice. It's our goal to make RowM.com the best seat in the cyber-house from which to learn about and plan activities surrounding our favorite movie openings in NYC. Hence, "RowM.com ...the best seat in the house."
